NTC Connect - Alumni Day in Hangzhou

Alumni from Nanyang Technopreneurship Center’s (NTC) Master of Science Technopreneurship and Innovation Programme (MSc TIP) and Entrepreneurship Development Programmes gathered in Hangzhou on September 8 for the inaugural NTC Connect. More than 100 NTC alumni and 60 guests from academia and the industry convened at the event.

Professor K Jimmy Hsia, Dean of Graduate College, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore), greeted the audience and opened the event with an alumni networking lunch. The audience was treated to a video montage depicting the center's journey since it was founded in 2001.

Mr Soon Min Yam, Director of NTU Alumni Affairs Office also delivered a heartwarming message to encourage all to continue enhancing connections among alumni and the entrepreneurship ecosystem.

A cake-cutting segment, commemorating the inaugural NTC Connect concluded the networking lunch.

Professor Ling San, NTU Provost and Vice President (Academic) and Professor Lam Kwok Yan, Director of NTC proceeded with their welcome address and introduction to the forum session. Moderated by Dr Xia Zhiqiang, Director of Graduate Programmes, NTC, the speakers on the panel - Mr. James Jin, Mr. Zac Tan, Mr. John Zhou and Mr. Yang Jian - then spoke on and engaged the audience in a discussion on ‘Intelligent Living and Secure Community’.

The Collaborative formed the final segment of NTC Connect. Four alumni first spoke about their stories since their graduation, sharing experiences and lessons with the audience. Five promising start-ups followed with their passionate pitches to secure funding and founding team resources.

The day ended with a lucky draw, courtesy of three generous donors. We would like to thank Zhang Tie, 2011 MSc TIP Alumnus who contributed SGD10,000 to NTC; Xie Xiaoming, 2007 MSc TIP Alumnus and Ma Ran, 2010 MSc TIP Alumnus, for providing us with the prizes in support of the event.

NTC Connect - Alumni Day is held to cultivate alumni relations. It also serves as a facilitation platform for joint ventures amongst alumni, an avenue for them to source for funding and first employees. NTC’s strategic partners are also invited to participate in the event, and to network with our graduates.
